Crispy, golden homemade onion rings made in the air fryer with minimal oil. Perfectly seasoned with paprika, garlic, and salt, these addictive chips are a quick snack or side dish.

  • Total Time: 20
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 large sweet onion (like Vidalia), thinly sliced into rings
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oil (for coating)

Instructions

Thinly slice the sweet onion into rings and separate into individual slices.
In separate bowls, mix flour, breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, and salt.
Working in batches, dredge each onion slice in flour, shaking off excess, then press into the seasoned breadcrumb mixture.
Lightly brush or spray the coated onion slices with oil to ensure crispness.
Arrange in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring the onion slices are not touching.
Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
Repeat with remaining batches, lightly re-oiling the slices before each round.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the air fryer for even crisping.
Toss midway for even coating browning.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
Serve with ranch, blue cheese, or your favorite dip.
