A baking soda lemon and ice recipe creates a naturally fizzy, refreshing drink made with fresh lemon juice, cold water, ice, and a small amount of baking soda.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 medium fresh lemon, about 1.5 to 2 tablespoons juice
  • 8 ounces cold filtered water
  • 4 to 6 ice cubes
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon honey or sweetener, optional

Instructions

  1. Squeeze the fresh lemon juice into a small bowl.
  2. Measure 1.5 to 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
  3. Pour 1 cup cold filtered water into a tall drinking glass.
  4. Add 4 to 6 ice cubes to the glass.
  5. Pour the fresh lemon juice into the glass with the ice and water.
  6. Add honey or sweetener if desired.
  7. Stir gently until the sweetener dissolves.
  8. Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon baking soda over the top of the drink.
  9. Let the mixture fizz and bubble.
  10. Stir quickly but gently to distribute the fizz.
  11. Serve immediately while the carbonation is strongest.

Notes

Use fresh lemon juice, cold filtered water, and exactly 1/4 teaspoon baking soda. Add the baking soda last and drink immediately for the best fizz and flavor.
