Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken tenders
1 tablespoon freshly grated lemon zest
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups breadcrumbs
Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)
Olive oil spray
Instructions
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for a few minutes to ensure even heating.
In a small bowl, combine lemon zest, black pepper, garlic powder, and salt to make the seasoning mix.
In three separate shallow bowls or dishes, place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
Season one side of the chicken tenders with the lemon pepper seasoning, then dredge in flour, shaking off the excess.
Dip the floured side into the beaten eggs, then into the breadcrumbs until fully coated. Repeat with the other side of the tenders.
Place the coated chicken tenders in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Lightly spray with olive oil spray for extra crispiness.
Air fry for 11-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Cooking times may vary based on the air fryer model.
Remove from the air fryer and let the tenders rest for a couple of minutes before serving. Serve with lemon wedges if desired.
Notes
For best results, avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Work in batches if needed.
If using frozen chicken tenders, no need to thaw them beforehand—just increase the cooking time by 3-4 minutes.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 3-4 minutes to restore crispiness.
Feel free to substitute almond flour for all-purpose flour if a gluten-free option is preferred.
